Manufactured with new tools for an excellent fit, they are constructed with thick, original gauge steel then black electro deposit (EDP) coated to provide high strength and corrosion protection. For 1976 trucks, there were 2 tailgate designs. 04-312 Fits the 2nd design and uses a stud to attach the tailgate link. The 1st design uses a bolt to attach the link. See part number 04-251 for the 1st design. Due to the size and nature of sheetmetal, minor imperfections, scratches and dents can occur during shipping and handling. These minor imperfections are considered normal and can be repaired during the installation and bodywork stages. Always inspect your shipment prior to signing for delivery. If major damage is noted, you have the option to refuse the delivery.
